Jill is a dynamic speaker who loves to share her inspirational story: of an artist growing up in Atlanta who finds her destiny in Provence. You will be mesmerized with her energy and enthusiasm as she inspires us all. 


Painting the Invisible
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
$50 per ticket.
$25 per ticket for Young Adults

A screening of James Ruffato's documentary, Painting the Invisible, will take place on the museum’s large outdoor stage. The film focuses on Jill’s journey from Atlanta to Aix-en-Provence, and how she found her raison d’être. 
Following the screening, there will be an interview with James and a live still-life painting demonstration by Jill.
This event includes a special tribute to Camp DeSoto. We invite all "DeSoto Girls", past, present and future, to attend.

Two-Day Oil Painting Workshop in Gloria Walker's gardens
Saturday, April 10 – SundayApril 11, 9:00-5:00       

Limited to 12 students
fee of $550.  Includes canvasses, all supplies, and lunch on both days

If these words speak to you and wake up a desire to paint, then join Jill Steenhuis for her 2-day Art, Soul and Bloom! oil painting workshop.

The workshop will concentrate on color theory, oil painting techniques and the creative process. You will learn how to mix a harmonious palette with a broad range of colors and gain insights into the process of painting from start to finish as Jill performs live painting demonstrations and explains her techniques. Coming away from the workshop, you will have several of your own original oil paintings!

This workshop is a personal and spiritual experience, like climbing a mountain within yourself. It's a moment to step back, slow down, observe and experience the beauty and wonder in and around you.

Open to beginners, experienced painters and non-painters alike.

    Half-Day Drawing Workshop in the MMA gardens
    Monday, April 12, 2:00 – 5:00

    Limited to 20 students
    fee of $200.  Participants need to bring a pencil and drawing pad.

    Beginners and inexperienced artists are encouraged!

    Jill says, "One of the main reasons why I draw is to open the way to the creative mind. It helps me leave behind my daily duties and tasks, to empty my mind and focus on creating."

    Join Jill Steenhuis in a half-day drawing workshop where you will drop the to-do list and tap into your creative energy. Drawing exercises and practice with the gestural quality of line on paper will help you understand the importance of drawing as an art form in itself. Jill Steenhuis' teaching and philosophy of drawing is handed down from the great masters and concentrates on how the line gives birth to the light, giving meaning to the paper.


    Half-Day Pastel Workshop in the MMA gardens
    Tuesday, April 13, 2:00 – 5:00  OR  Wednesday, April 14, 2:00 – 5:00

    Limited to 20 students
    fee $250. All supplies provided.

    • Jill says: "My focus is color and the true creative process of taking in nature through the senses to activate one's unique inner poetry. My workshop is more about climbing to a higher level, stretching oneself to experience the link with nature in a deeper way than just copying it. I will give you your wings to fly to the sky with color."
    • Join Jill in a half-day pastel workshop, where you will open up your creative mind and concentrate on color. Working directly from nature, the subjects will be still-life motifs and floral arrangements. You will contemplate the motif through your senses to activate your inner poetry and learn to transmit this experience onto paper.
