Many GCJ members attended a seminar at Bellingrath Gardens by Harvey Cotten. Here is a link to the Bellingrath Garden's Blog with Mr. Cotten's advice on how to protect pollinators in the garden.

In the Spring of 2013 the Conservation Committee of the GCJ planted a pollinator garden on Dewitt Street in Mid-City Jackson. This was part of a larger club project helping the residents of Dewitt street with their gardens.

The Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of Jackson is currently pursuing a mini-project to design a coloring book of native wildflowers from Mississippi.

We continue to collect corks for recycling and to monitor National and local legislation which impacts the environment.

The Garden Club of Jackson supports efforts to stop the proposed plans of the Mississippi Department of Transportation to widen Port Gibson's Historic Church Street. The preservation of the oak-lined drive is necessary to maintain the beauty and atmosphere of this quaint town.

Our club enjoys an annual canoe trip on the beautiful Strong River.
